The National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the registration process for the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) 2026. The entrance exam is conducted for admission to the four-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP). Interested candidates can apply online through the official websites — nta.ac.in and exams.nta.nic.in/NCET. The last date to submit the application form is March 10, 2026. The mode of the examination will be Computer Based Test. NCET entrance results will be valid for admission to courses offered by ITEP in Central and State Universities and some of the IITs and NITs and Regional Institutes of Education (RIEs).

NTA NCET important dates and application process

As per the schedule released by NTA, the registration window will remain open till March 10, 2026. Candidates can pay the application fee till March 11, 2026. The correction window will be available from March 12 to March 14, 2026. The NCET 2026 exam is expected to be held on April 17, 2026.To apply, candidates must visit the official website and complete the online registration. They need to fill in personal and academic details, upload scanned copies of photograph and signature, and pay the application fee online. After submission, candidates should download the confirmation page for future reference.The application fee is Rs 1,200 for General category candidates. For OBC-NCL and EWS candidates, the fee is Rs 1,000. SC, ST, PwD and third gender candidates need to pay Rs 650.Direct link to apply for NCET 2026.

Exam pattern and syllabus details

NCET-2026 will be conducted in Computer Based Test mode. The medium of the NCET-2026 will be in various languages. The question paper will consist of language proficiency, G.K., teaching aptitude, and specific subject sections.The level of the test is largely based on the Class 12 level. The test is for reading comprehension, vocabulary, general awareness, current affairs, logical reasoning, and subject knowledge. Candidates must select domain subjects based on the programme they wish to pursue under ITEP.

The four-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) is designed to prepare students for a career in teaching. The course combines a bachelor’s degree in a chosen subject with professional teacher training.
