National junior athletics | Basant, Narpat win gold, but fail to qualify for under-20 Worlds
Basant recorded 2.11m, while the qualification standard was 2.12m. Narpat, who threw the hammer to 67.45m, fell short by 55cm.
Kerala’s Abiya Ann Gigi rewrote the girls’ under-16 high jump national record with an effort of 1.56m. Second-placed Dhanya S. (1.53m) of Tamil Nadu also bettered the previous record.

U-16: Boys: High jump: Sakthivel V.N. (TN) 1.81m; Girls: High jump: Abiya Ann Gigi (Ker) 1.56m (NR, Old 1.52m, Y. Potanapalli, 2024).
U-16: Girls: 1000m medley relay: Maharashtra 2:17.36.
U-14: Girls: Javelin: Aaradhya Singh (Har) 38.64m.
