IHPL drama: Delhi Jr. selector Ashu Dani, CAC member Surinder Khanna likely to be relieved by DDCA

New Delhi: Former India wicketkeeper Surinder Khanna and former Delhi player Ashu Dani, who are part of the cricket advisory committee (CAC) member and chief junior selector respectively, are likely to be relieved of their duties by Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) due to their involvement in the tainted Indian Heaven Premier League (IHPL) played in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).The league, involving international stars like Chris Gayle and Praveen Kumar, suspended abruptly after the organisers fled due to non-payment of dues. The cricketers were stranded in the hotel as the hotel management were also waiting for clearance of their dues.Dani was named as the president of the IHPL, while Khanna was made a mentor in the league.“There’s a criminal case filed against Dani. It is expected he will resign himself although he claims he is innocent. Or else DDCA will have to think of another action. As for Khanna, his role had finished once the selection committees and coaches were appointed for the season. His job was to recommend names for these jobs. He is unlikely to be involved further in the season,” a top DDCA official told TOI.DDCA, too had released a stern statement on Monday.
