The Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) has officially released the Group C Mains Exam 2026 notification for 3,112 vacancies across various technical and non-technical posts, including Forester, Draftsman, Fitter, Auto/Diesel Mechanic, and more. This recruitment follows the Common Eligibility Test (CET) Group C Phase-I, and only candidates who qualify in CET are eligible to apply for the mains. Applications will be accepted online from 2nd to 15th February 2026. The notification mentions the eligibility criteria, age limits, and how to apply. Candidates have to be certain that they fulfill both the educational and age criteria. The main exam, plus any skill tests if required, will be the primary focus of the selection process which will culminate in the final appointments in Haryana government departments.

HSSC Group C exam pattern

The HSSC Group C Mains Exam is an OMR based test held in a traditional, non-online mode. The exam comprises 100 multiple, choice questions; each question carries 1 mark. The time allocated is 1 hour 45 minutes. The paper is bilingual: Hindi and English. It tests the knowledge of the candidates based on the job profile they have applied for. There is no deduction of marks for wrong answers. Candidates must achieve the minimum qualifying marks requested, 50% for the general category and 40% for the reserved categories.

Selection process

The HSSC Group C recruitment is done through a multi, stage selection process with the objective that candidates are tested comprehensively at each stage.First, candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their CET Phase, I marks, and only those who clear this stage can appear for the HSSC Group C Mains Exam, which tests the candidate’s knowledge and understanding related to the post applied for.For certain posts, candidates must also undergo a Skill or Trade Test to evaluate practical abilities specific to roles such as Draftsman, Fitter, Mechanic, or Plant Operator. Finally, successful candidates are required to complete Document Verification (DV) and a Medical Examination before appointment. Each stage is mandatory, and progression depends on meeting the minimum qualifying standards.

Marking scheme for HSSC Group C recruitment

The HSSC Group C Mains Exam is designed to assess both knowledge and accuracy. Each question has the same weightage, and candidates are required to be thorough in their answers if they want to qualify.

  • Total Questions: 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Marks per Question: 1 mark each
  • Total Marks: 100
  • Qualifying Marks: 50% for General category; 40% for Reserved categories
  • Negative Marking: None
  • Language: Hindi and English

The marks obtained in the mains, along with CET Phase-I scores and skill/test results where applicable, are used to determine the candidate’s final ranking for selection and appointment.

Application process

Eligible candidates will be able to apply online at hssc.gov.in or adv022026.hryssc.com February 2, 2026 onwards. The application window will remain open till February 15, 2026. Fresh applications are required even if candidates applied in previous HSSC Group C notifications. Candidates must upload relevant documents and verify CET credentials before submission.
